.Little Things Bring Smiles Part 12.

It was exactly one year ago today when my husband encouraged me to start blogging. We worked together to think of clever names and were really fond of  "Katiedid" which is a fun play off of my name, the crafts I would be sharing, and most of all the insect. (Side note: I am a very big science geek at heart.) Sadly this name was taken and Adam told me to think deeper and to decide what my blog would reflect.

After sleeping on it, I came up with 'Little Things Bring Smiles' because it truly represents my outlook on life. I wanted to blog to not only share the crafts I made, but to share my life and how God shows Himself to me. For me, He is in all things, but most important He's in the little things. No matter what kind of day you are having {depressing, joyous, frustrating, relaxing} there is joy and comfort found in the little things.

For the past year, I have compiled small lists of the little things that made me smile. I have found with each passing month, I look toward the little things and notice how minute they always are but how mighty they fill my heart. I often pray for God to continue showing me these little things to be a constant reminder that He is there for us at all times and reveals Himself to us more times than we ever notice.

I would be delighted if you would join me and share the little things that brought smiles to your days.

-  My husband waking up early to fill my car with gas
- Hearing three favorite songs play back to back on the radio
- Having a very pleasant and fun experience cooking with Adam
- Driving down the highway with yellow leaves falling on my dash
- Watching the ground hog (who lives under our back tree) collect food
- The comfort a heating blanket produces
- Meeting up with old friends and picking up right where you left off
- Going out of my way to bring coffee to Adam's office
- Rainy, snuggly days followed by the most beautiful sunny day
- Hanging new curtains in our living room
- Having my dog work his way up the bed as the night progresses
- Trying and liking new food
- Hugging my mom and dad
- Laughing til you cry

Now it's your turn, what are your little things?
Always remember,
Little Things Bring Smiles!

  1. It's been difficult, Katie, to bring smiles to my face as of late. After losing my husband last Christmas Eve, I have managed to avoid smiles as much as possible. YET, I know my Father in Heaven desires for his kids to smile no matter what befalls them. So, today, I smile because He Lives!! I have hope for an eternal future! I smile because the rest of my family is healthy and we have jobs and homes, and cars and food and grandbabies:) I smile because there is Excedrin in my desk as well as chocolate!! And I smile because I can breathe and walk and smell and touch and hear! Thank you for reminding me that No. Matter. What. I. Can. Smile. Just. Because!!!!

  2. Hey Katie....smiling cause you decided to write a blog and I got to 'meet' you....xo

  3. Had to come back and just say to Cindy...that I'm so sorry for your loss...but one day you'll walk the streets of gold holding your husband's hand again...blessings...xo

  4. My smiles from this month have been the cooler weather and anticipation of the holidays approaching, time with family, cuddling on the couch and watching episodes of How I Met Your Mother with my hubby, a fun date night with your sweet big bro, and of course getting to play with my beautiful little munchkin every day! :)

I'm so glad you decided to take the leap and join the blogging world because Little Things Bring Smiles is nothing short of a huge success! We can't wait to see you in a few short weeks for Thanksgiving, and get excited because I found a recipe for a gluten-free coffee cake that you are going to have aaaaallllll to yourself. ;)

    Love you!

  5. Hi, Katie!

I wanted to let you know I featured your rustic snowflakes as my 'pinterest challenge' project today! They turned out wonderfully, and we're so easy to make! Thanks for featuring the project!

  6. Hi, Katie,
I love your question. I had a rough summer that a country song could have been written after, but thanks to wonderful friends and family, things are looking. My "little things" are my 9 year old daughter doing the dishes without me asking (NOT on her chore list even!), my friend's hubby coming over to help out while my hubby is in Afghanistan, sharing a bottle of wine with my best friends before taking our kids trick or treating (makes it SOOOO much more fun for all! AND we walked it all off!) And cuddling on the couch with my daughter while we SKYPE with my hubby in Afghanistan.
